Serving Anglicans in the
Municipality of Central Huron, Ontario

In 1832, the first St Paul's was erected on a one acre parcel of land had been set aside by the Canada Company.   The small frame building was crudely built, contained a few benches, and was poorly constructed. The building burned in 1845.

The second building was erected in 1856 on the land where the parish rectory now stands.   Again it was a wooden frame structure, built to serve the community until a more substantial church could be erected.   St. Paul's received its first permanent incumbent in 1859.   This was The Rev. James Carmichael, later the Fourth Bishop of Montreal. Many improvements were made to the grounds and the building during his incumbency.

This church burned on Jan. 15, 1865, and plans were immediately begun to replace the building with the new building opened 10 months later.   This is basically the St. Paul's of today, with alterations and additions over the decades.

The original rectory was built in 1872, but this building was torn down in 1961 and replaced the same year with the present house.

In 2003, St. Paul's Anglican Church formed the Parish of the Holy Spirit with St. Thomas', Seaforth and Trinity Anglican, Mitchell.   The Rev'd Karine Farmer has been rector since 2008.

Sunday Service is at 11:15am.
